September 12, 2018 – After 44 polls closed at 8 p.m. tonight, ballot boxes were opened, and 4,974 ballots were counted in the provincial by-election in the constituency of Regina Northeast.

The preliminary results can be found at results.elections.sk.ca.

The official results will be part of the Final Count on September 24.

Here are the results and numbers from tonight’s preliminary count. It’s important to note that the number of registered voters will increase somewhat as electors could register as late as today when arriving at their assigned poll to vote.

  • 12,468 registered voters (12,448 in 2016 General Election (GE))
  • 4,974 ballots counted tonight (7,173 in 2016 GE)
  • 39.89 percent turnout of registered voters (57.81 percent in 2016 GE)
  • Ballots from 48 boxes were counted tonight, comprised of:
    • 44 regular polls
    • 3 advance polls
    • 1 homebound poll
  • One additional poll for absentee votes will be added to the Final Count on September 24, for a total of 49 ballot boxes. Eighteen (18) absentee applications were received.
