August 18, 2014 – Saskatchewan’s election management body has launched a refreshed website that is more user friendly and reflects the brand of the institution.

The former website had been active since 2011 before the last provincial general election. The updated website incorporates the new brand and logo that the institution transitioned to this past spring.

“Modern election management bodies are positioning their websites at the very center of the organizations—a place where all stakeholders can receive information and offer feedback to the body responsible for conducting elections.  This is the case for Elections Saskatchewan,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer and head of Elections Saskatchewan, the provincial election management body.

“We wanted our site to be easy for everyone to read the content, navigate through the pages and links, and quickly find the information they’re looking for, whether it’s on a smartphone, tablet or desktop.”

Other features include:

  • Removing barriers to participating in the electoral process, such as easier access to our site. It is more responsive to the user’s needs, meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and offers accessibility tools such as larger fonts and colours that contrast each other;

  • A resource centre that provides fast access to our reports, legislation, useful links, news releases, CEO background, glossary and information for students and youth;

  • A “Find my constituency” tool on the home page; and

  • An online application for working in the 28th General Election, set by law, for November 2, 2015. If there is a conflict with a federal election at that time, the alternative date for Saskatchewan’s election is April 4, 2016.

The website refresh was led by external partners Brown Communications, MPATH Engagement Inc. and Adxstudio Inc.

“The site is designed with our key stakeholders in mind—voters, candidates and parties, employees and media. We will continue adding new content leading up to the general election and ensuring our site is a valuable resource come election day and throughout the four-year electoral cycle.”

Elections Saskatchewan is the province’s independent, impartial, professional election management body. Given a mandate from the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, it organizes, manages and oversees provincial electoral events.
