By-Election Day Tomorrow

Polls will be open for by-election day voting from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow. If there are any questions on polling locations, please contact Jennifer Colin at 306.520.4705.

As with the last round of by-elections, as we issue news releases tomorrow, I will forward them to you via email. If I need to contact you with specific information, I will do so formally through a Regina Northeast By-Election Communique.

Just a reminder that advance poll votes are counted on by-election night in the location where the votes were cast. One advance poll will be counted at the Uplands Community Association (20 Weekes Crescent) while two advance polls will be counted at the Glen Elm Branch of the Regina Public Library (1601 Dewdney Avenue East). In both cases, anyone who wishes to view the count must arrive prior to 8 p.m. as after that time the doors will be locked.

Results Reporting

We expect that results will begin being posted tomorrow by around 9 p.m. You can view our results page at http://results.elections.sk.ca/.

In terms of the numbers of ballot boxes that will be reported on tomorrow, they are as follows:

  • 44 regular polls;
  • 3 advance polls; and
  • 1 homebound poll.

During the final count on Monday, September 24, one additional ballot box, for absentee votes, will be added for a total of 49 ballot boxes.

Advance Voting – Picking up Copies of the E-317

Copies of the “E-317 – Poll Book for Voters who Voted at Advance” will be available for pickup after 1 p.m. today.

Please ensure that the person who picks up this document (if it is not the candidate) has a signed copy of the E-417 “Appointment of Candidate’s Representative” form with them. We need this form as verification that the information is being released to an authorized representative of the candidate. If the individual picking up the E-317 has not been designated as a candidate’s representative, blank E-417A forms can be found at https://www.elections.sk.ca/candidates-political-parties/forms-and-guides/e-417a.pdf. The form must be completed in advance of picking up the E-317. If the E-417A is only used for someone to pick up the E-317, the bottom portion of the document, labeled “For Use by a Deputy Returning Officer Within a Polling Place” does not need to be completed.

Candidate Rep Training – Blank “Bingo Sheet”

I know that some registered political parties will be holding training sessions for candidate representatives. In the interests of assisting with that training, I have attached a blank copy of the “E-333 Statement of Voters who Voted on Polling Day” (Bingo Sheet).

Consistent with past events, the poll clerk will complete this form and it will be given to candidate reps at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. There is no bingo sheet provided for the last hour of voting, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

I have also attached a one-page flysheet outlining the “cans and cannots” for candidates and candidate representatives. This document was provided to you with my August 28 Regina Northeast by-election communique but I simply wanted to provide it to you once more in advance of by-election day. Please distribute to your candidates and candidate representatives who may not have seen it.

All the best to you, your candidates, and your parties tomorrow.

Dr. Michael Boda
Chief Electoral Officer
